Visioning - Design Sketches, Diagrams, Computer Investigations, and Models

A beautiful, artful sketch or diagram is possible without it having much intelligence behind it, but these are often little more than 'eye-candy'.  A useful architectural sketch or diagram from a skilled and innovative architect captures not only the eye, but it also reveals a rare and unique vision that is informed by a wide range of complex determinants.  Sometimes they solve specific problems, but always relative to an overall vision.  Whether drawn in a journal, on a table cloth, on a marker board, with a computer, or on the sidewalk with our kid's sidewalk chalk, they can capture the essence of a project.  If  'the end depends upon the beginning', one must begin with an inspired, informed, and meaningful vision.
